Develop Your Skills
Innovative Weather offers part time positions to UW-Milwaukee students who are pursuing or have completed a degree in atmospheric science. Students begin as Operational Interns, learning how to use forecasting models and software. As they progress, students then apply their skills as Meteorologist Interns and begin completing forecast products and audio broadcasts. With advanced knowledge, students become Operational Meteorologist staff members responsible for client consultation and direct decision support.
Gain Valuable Experience
Innovative Weather abounds with opportunities you won’t find anywhere else. Students gain hands on experience working with sophisticated, high-resolution weather models, synthesizing information in real-time, and preparing short and long-form forecasts for a variety of clients. These positions also teach valuable skills in client relations, broadcast communications, theoretical application, and meteorology research. Innovative Weather offers experience in operational meteorology that increases understanding of the client forecast process and develops an appreciation for serving the community. Students can apply this experience both in the classroom and in their future careers in meteorology.

Testimonial
"I owe my success to the unique opportunity that is IW, and to the irreplaceable mentoring and motivation that Prof. Roebber and Mike Westendorf provide to each IW employee. IW was the missing piece to the puzzle that I needed to stand out."
